Ease in the water

All tours offered by Ninamu Oceanic Tour are open to everyone.

For the lagoon tour, it is recommended to be comfortable in the water. Your captain and guide will always suggest water rides adapted to your level.

For the whale watching tour, it is recommended, in addition to being comfortable in the water, to be in good physical shape because the conditions in the open sea are not the same as in the lagoon and can sometimes be difficult due to the swell, the wind, the current, the type of animals encountered…

But in both cases, observation is possible from the boat for those who wish to do so.

Snorkeling gear

Fins, masks and snorkels will be available on the boat.

For the whale tour, we do not recommend “small” fins (pool or bodyboard) as they are not efficient enough for the open sea conditions. We will provide you with the appropriate fins if needed.

If you have your own equipment, feel free to bring it with you.

It is recommended that you send us your fin sizes after your reservation so that we can prepare the equipment before your arrival.

Things to bring

An outing at sea must be prepared. It is strongly advised to bring with you

  • Sunscreen (preferably ecological and reef safe)*,
  • A lycra,
  • Sunglasses,
  • A hat or cap that won’t fly away,
  • A swimsuit, long or short suit,
  • A towel,
  • A windbreaker.

* Sunscreen and coral reef protection.

During our excursions, you will swim in magnificent coral gardens. But you will also see that our reefs are not all in good health and that some areas are devoid of life.

It is our duty to participate in the protection of the coral reefs and every action counts. That’s why we encourage you to make an eco-responsible choice when choosing your sunscreen.

Indeed, when you swim, the cream disperses in the water and some components like oxybenzone promote the bleaching of coral reefs.

Apply your cream 30 minutes before going in the water for maximum protection and to prevent the cream from getting in the water. You can also limit your sunscreen use by wearing lycra.

Seasickness

The boat is stable and has been designed to navigate in rough seas. It is a 7.6 m semi-rigid boat powered by a 250 HP engine.

But if you know that you might get seasick, don’t hesitate to prepare the excursion by taking a seasickness medication to put all the chances on your side and have a good time on the water.

Children

Children must be comfortable in the sea and attentive to the instructions.

For the lagoon tour, the minimum age is 5 years old.
For the private whale watching tour, the minimum age is 10 years old.
For the shared whale watching tour, the minimum age is 16 years old.

In case of need, we work with the only licensed daycare center in Moorea, Aquasplash. You will benefit from a daycare service in their establishment or a baby sitting in your accommodation. Contact them directly via their website for any request.

Meeting point

For the shared tours, the departure will be at the PaoPao cruise pier. The boat, your captain and your guide will be there to welcome you. See the itinerary.

For private tours, we will indicate the meeting place closest to your accommodation (hotel, pier or public beach). A place where the boat can dock and pick you up.
